My work is interactive exploring ways of engaging audiences through Theatre, Puppetry, Storytelling and Installation. I am interested in the way people communicate, a passion which has developed through my work as a freelance artist : designing community theatre projects, delivering set design worshops, and creating tactile installations in various venues including Museums, schools and garden sheds. All of which led me to setting up Sensation in 2008, to develop and deliver multi-sensory projects in schools and communities. Current projects include puppetry workshops for Adults with Learning disabilites for Bradford District Care Trust.
My freelance work has involved some exciting collaborations with companies committed to exploring ways of engaging audiences. Most recently this involved work with Interplay Theatre on their production of Precious Bane, currently on a national tour of Special schools and Arts venues. And previously includes: Design for Faust by The Silver Hammer (Bradford 2007), creating an immersive piece of theatre that explored the use of motion capture technology in performance; Under the Rainbow, Red Octopus (Liverpool 2007) a sensory story project for special needs audiences across Merseyside
My work almost always exists in collaboration …whether that is with other artists, designers, performers or members of the public. One of my latest projects is with Visual Artist Kate Desforges creating an animation using puppets, paper an a whole load of imagination!
I trained in Theatre Design at Nottingham Trent University (2002)
International training undertaken includes a European Training Services placement in Mask making, Venice (2003) and Puppets in Prague, a course in traditional Czech puppetry (2005)
